Selby Swing Bridge

This project was for the construction of the A63 Selby bypass over the River Ouse, which consisted of five spans in total; a 95m Swing Bridge and 4 plate girder fixed bridges.
Cleveland Bridge were contracted to the supply, delivery and erection of all four fixed bridges, two of which were supplied in Corton grade steel. The company was also involved in the design and construction of the superstructure, as well as both the Mechanical and Electrical works for this 55m main span swing bridge. This design comprised of a cable stayed bridge of open cross section with an orthotropic deck plate, with the completed structure having a total tonnage of 765te.
