Bond Street Station

  • Year: 2014
  • Location: London, England
  • Client: Costain/Skanska

Fabrication and supply of 750 tonnes of plunge column and structural steelwork, required for the successful implementation of top-down construction to form two ticket halls as an extension to the existing Bond Street Station.

The Eastern Ticket Hall comprised of 23no. UC section plunge columns, including all Followers and ancillary components.

The Western Ticket Hall comprised of 13no. 600mm x 600mm Jumbo SHS plunge columns, the material for which had to be procured from Japan on a 20 week lead-in time, as the Steel Mills in the UK do not roll sections this large.

Further variations were awarded for the temporary steelwork elements of the top-down construction, following the successful installation of the plunge columns – these elements also included the applicable site installation works.
