Requirement

The A14 Integrated Delivery Team (IDT) is working on behalf of Highways England to deliver a £1.5billion scheme to improve the A14 trunk road between Cambridge and Huntingdon. The aim is to relieve congestion, unlock economic growth, improve safety and enhance the local environment.

Leading steel bridge construction company Cleveland Bridge was appointed to fabricate and construct six major new bridges on the section of the new A14 between the A1 and Cambridge.

Challenges

Each bridge presented different engineering and construction challenges, alongside the need to complete works on schedule in coordination with other trades and contractors

Outcome
