About the project
The West Gate Bridge is a steel box girder cable-stayed bridge in Melbourne, Australia. It spans the Yarra River connecting the southern suburbs of Melbourne with the industrial areas of Williamstown.
The main span of this structure is 336m with a height above water level of 58m and an overall length of 2.5km. The Westgate Bridge is a privately sponsored toll facility, the third longest bridge in Australia, twice as long as Sydney Harbour Bridge, and it is ranked as one of the great cable stayed bridges in the world.
