About the project
The Garden Bridge or Waibaidu Bridge (in Chinese) located in Shanghai was the first all-steel bridge and the only surviving example of a camelback truss bridge in China. It stands as one of the icons of Shanghai to this day and is considered the cities landmark bridge, proving popular amongst tourists.
Clevealnd Bridge started work on the project on 4th August 1906 and was completed on the 29th December 1907, being opened on 20th January 1908. On opening it was described as "the most substantial structure in China".
