Jiangyin Bridge

Project Completed: 1999

About the project

Cleveland Bridge was the main contractor for construction of the suspension system and the main span deck of this 1385m suspension bridge - the longest bridge in China. The Jiangyin Bridge is the most seaward crossing of the Yangtze River carrying a dual three lane highway over the river with 50m navigational clearance.

Cleveland Bridge was given 850 days to engineer, manufacture, construct and complete the work. Working together with the client, the engineers, Chinese sub-contractors and offshore suppliers, Cleveland Bridge was responsible for ensuring completion of the project on time. At the time of completion in 1999 it was the world’s fourth longest suspension bridge and still ranks amongst the ten longest bridge spans in the world today.
