About the project

The High Level Bridge in Newcastle, North East England, is a road and railway bridge spanning the river Tyne. Built between 1847 and 1849, it was designed by Robert Stephenson and is the first major example of a wrought iron tied arch bridge. It was opening by Queen Victoria on the 27th September 1849. It consists of six river spans of 38m in length with a total length of 407m.
