Fossdyke Bridge

Project Completed: 1997

About the project

The Fossdyke connects the River Trent at Torksey to Lincoln, the county town of Lincolnshire, and is thought to be the oldest canal in England that is still in use. In 1997, Cleveland Bridge were responsible for the fabrication, delivery, erection and protective treatment of Fossdyke Bridge.

This was complicated as the bridge was curved in both plan and elevation with the structure consisting of three trapezoidal steel box girders and a composite reinforced concrete deck slab.
