The health, wellbeing and happiness of our people are central to our success. We are constantly developing our benefits package, with an emphasis on wellbeing and excellent workplace culture.

Our factory shift patterns run from Monday to Thursday, giving manufacturing teams a three-day weekend. For office-based staff we offer flexible working hours, enabling a better work-life balance and allowing them to fulfil commitments like childcare or caring for loved ones. We have introduced part-time working for retired employees, as a way to retain their skills and enable them to share their vast experience with newer team members. We have an in-house occupational nurse and offer counselling services, mental health counselling and a range of health and wellbeing workshops. The benefits of giving people a better work-life balance and improved organisational culture are demonstrated by the levels of engagement, productivity and enthusiasm we see among our teams.

As a 150-year-old business at the forefront of Darlington’s development, Cleveland Bridge is aware of its cherished place in the town’s history and identity. We build on this legacy every day through close links with local schools, colleges, universities, charities and businesses. We attend careers events, run bridge-building workshops, promote engineering careers and provide inspiration and opportunities for young people in the region.
