HISTORY

The Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Company was founded in 1877 in Darlington, U.K. From small beginnings in fabrication the company grew rapidly in size and reputation to build bridges and structures in all five continents. Dorman Long established its name as a world-class bridge builder with Sydney Harbour Bridge. Around the world the companies built bridges in competition and together.

By 1982 these two famous steel construction names were in common ownership and, in 1990, they were merged into a single organisation. Today Cleveland Bridge has an unrivalled name in the world of major bridges and landmark structures. The new Cleveland Group is founded on this heritage and reputation.
