Under the previous ownership the Cleveland Bridge Dorman Long Engineering Limited had been perceived as being a subcontractor and occasionally a Major Bridge Contractor. The new Cleveland team will claim back its proud history as a Main Contractor with an emphasis on steel structures.

Under its new ownership and improved financial strength the Group has a great opportunity to build on its Engineering Excellence, establish its true position as the World's premier Bridge Constructor and to establish a range of products through Vertical Integration of the Bridge Building Process.

The Group will expand from its traditional geographical markets to operate in Australia, China, India, newly developing markets in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Russia, Central Asia, USA and The Americas.

This is a rendering of the selected option for the replacement of the old Carquinez Bridge, San Francisco, built in 1927. The original bridge opened the day Lindbergh landed in Paris. The contract was awarded to a Cleveland Bridge / Flatiron Structures Inc. joint venture in January 2000 was the first major project following the management buyout.

The Cleveland team understands what it means to be an International Company. Cleveland Bridge in each geographical area is a local company. Each company’s management and staff are local but Cleveland trained and loyal. A strong and sustainable boom in Major Bridge Construction worldwide provides a strong platform for the re-establishment of Cleveland Bridge as a prime Contractor across the Globe. Specific opportunities in USA, Europe, Middle East, Australia and Hong Kong/China where Cleveland is already well advanced with negotiations ensure this confidence is well placed. The Company will have a strong and viable Product line to be marketed under the Dorman Long Brand name. Acquisitions and Research and Development plus Heavy Industry Products manufactured in Dubai will provide the basis for this strategic shift in emphasis. The Cleveland Group believes that a share of a large project is much more attractive than 100% of a great prospect and will continue to foster partnerships with other progressive Companies that offer Geographical, Engineering or Financial advantage in securing a project.
